Khyree Jackson (August 11, 1999 – July 6, 2024) was an American football cornerback known for his dynamic play and potential. He played college football for the Fort Scott Greyhounds, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Oregon Ducks. The Tragic Incident
Jackson, seated in the front passenger seat of a Dodge Charger involved in a three-vehicle collision in Upper Marlboro, was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, according to an MSP news release. Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, also perished in the crash. The three were former high school football teammates.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of Khyree Jackson’s death following an overnight car accident,” the Vikings said in a statement. “As we seek further information, we have contacted Khyree’s family and extended the full support of the Minnesota Vikings. We have also informed Vikings players, coaches, and staff and have made counseling services available for those who need emotional support. Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident.”
Details of the Accident
The victims were traveling in the Charger, which was struck by a silver Infiniti heading northbound on Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue, according to police. Preliminary investigations suggest that the Infiniti, driven by Cori Clingman, initially hit the Charger and then collided with a Chevrolet Impala while attempting a high-speed lane change. The Charger then veered off the road and crashed into several tree stumps before coming to a stop, the release stated.
Hazel, who was driving the Charger, was also declared dead at the scene. Lytton Jr., seated in the rear, was taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead by hospital personnel.
Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the fatal crash, which is still under investigation.
